Dufour Editions publishes and distributes a wide range of distinguished titles, from the best of Irish and British poetry to the powerful, distinctive voices of Eastern European writers. While publishing approximately three books a year under its own imprint, Dufour also distributes throughout the U.S. and Canada the lists of more than thirty British, Scottish, Welsh and Irish publishers.

Authors on our list include Irish poets Paul Muldoon, Thomas Kinsella, and Derek Mahon, Russian poet Osip Mandelstam, Swedish novelist Kristin Ekman, Salvador Dali, Jean Cocteau, Georges Bataille, Russell James, Bill James, Milorad Pavic, John Banville, Brian Friel, Frederico Garcia Lorca, Ray Bradbury, Timothy Murphy, Tess Gallagher, and recent Nobel Prize-winners, Wislawa Szymborska and Seamus Heaney

Based in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, Dufour is the largest North American distributor of books from and about Ireland. Irish publishers distributed by Dufour include the Blackstaff Press in Belfast, and the Lilliput Press in Dublin. In 1996 Dufour announced the addition of several more Irish presses to its list including: Gallery Press, Dedalus Press, New Island Books, and University College Dublin Press. In 1997 we added The Collins Press, out of Cork, and The Anvil Press / The Children's Press, out of Dublin. In 1998 we added Irish book and music publisher Cló Iar-Chonnachta. And in 2003 we added The Liffey Press, Carysfort, and Irelands' largest religious book publisher, Columba Books.

English poetry and poetry in translation represent a large part of the Dufour list. We distribute for Bloodaxe Books, one of the premier publishers of modern British poetry and English translations of works by established European poets. From Wales, we distribute the list of Parthian Books, and from Scotland, Goblinshead and Iynx. The mystery lists of The Do-Not Press and Tindal Street Press add a bit of noir to the list, and for classic travel books, one can hardly do better than England's Eland and Sickle Moon Books.

In recent years the company has increased the number of titles published under its own imprint while also widening its connection to foreign presses. The company plans to engage in increased co-publications with its overseas presses, while maintaining its own list of quality publications, including new and forthcoming titles from: Georges Bataille, Richard Penna, Tom Noyes, Karen Shoemaker, Mitch Cullin, Clare Elfman, Jens Bjørneboe, and Milorad Pavic.
